RUIMSIG GOLF MONTHLY NEWSLETTER 18 NOVEMBER 2021

 In 2021, News

Dear RCC member,

Where has the time gone! It was only the other day the year started, now the seasons are changing again and with less than 6 weeks to go we will be starting a whole new year!
So much has happened in a short space of time.

The Golf Course

It was announced at the AGM in April that the Club had agreed to the implementation of the pump house project, that would see the installation of new pumps and upgrading the irrigation satellites. This started timeously and has been steadily attended to over the last couple of months. It has not been without its fair challenge; the Riots in July and the third covid wave, which resulted in the delay in imports and securing the necessary hardware.

The project initially started with the upgrading of the electrical board in the pump house and the removal of the existing pumps. As the hardware become available all new pumps were installed and recently commissioned.

For the last number of years The Ruimsig Country Club has had the opportunity to draw water from the Driefontein water treatment plant, at no cost to the club, except the upkeep of the pump and pipe line.

As a result of new regulations and gazetted changes to the use of grey water. Our access to the grey water was temporarily halted.

During discussions with Joburg Water, the Club undertook an investigation as to the viability of the existing boreholes. It was found that of the 7 onsite boreholes, only 4 yielded suitable water flow. A decision was made to commission the highest yielding borehole. This has been completed with the water being pumped directly into the pump house. At the same time, the access to the grey water has also been granted, with a contractual obligation for charges for the metered water drawn from their facility.

As a result of the new pumps, the aged irrigation system, has literally been popping at the seams. With the added pressure now flowing through the pipes, the original connections, joints, nuts and bolts have proven to be in much need of attention. As these leaks arise, they are being attended to swiftly by Kleinboy and his team.

We ask that should you see a place in need of urgent attention, please advise Graham or myself with the location that we can ensure these are attended to efficiently.

We thank Kleinboy and the Matko team for managing the water and course as efficiently as possible under challenging times.

The course has continued to see plenty rounds passing through, with 40 711 rounds for the period January to October.

We are excited to welcome back our golf days and small functions. These have all been well received and we thank our members and visitors for their understanding as time is allocated to these events.

The Club acknowledges that slow play has been of concern and we continue to address these instances as they happen. We remind our members and guests that our marshals are there to monitor the pace of play and ensure that everyone enjoys the course in good time.

All players are kindly requested to assist the team by fixing any divots and pitch marks they come across. It goes a long way to help the team.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Callum Smith. He has been a welcome addition to the team and a friendly face as you check in. We wish him every success as he leaves us for new adventures.

Membership 2022

The membership rates for 2022 have been released. This will be sent in a further email for your reference.

The Central Gauteng Golf Unions and the Ladies Golf Union have recently amalgamated and will now fall under one umbrella.

Affiliation and handicap rates will be the same for both men and ladies. With a drive to encourage junior growth, there is a reduction on the Junior affiliations.

As previously communicated to the membership, our ladies’ rates over a period of 2 years were going to fall in line with the men’s rates in 2022 and the category classifications would become one. This will now take effect on the 1 January 2022, with men and ladies paying the same rate.

In our efforts to give back to the members, Ruimsig Country Club will be offering a family membership discount in 2022. This will entitle the spouse and dependants of a main member 25% discount on the subscription portion of the rates. The security levy and admin fees on debit orders will remain unchanged.

As an example, a family of 4 : full rate for the main member, and each of the dependants would qualify for 25% discount on their subscriptions for 2022.

A dependant is any minor under the age of 18, and a student that would be dependent on the main member and lives under their roof. Proof of study for a student may be required. Life partners will qualify for a spousal discount.

Annually there is great excitement around November with Black Friday Specials. This year will be no different. Applicable to new and current members, we will offer a discount on
upfront payments for the 2022 subscriptions.

Please note that these November Specials, will only be applicable to upfront settlement of accounts. Debit orders will automatically renew in January at the 2022 rate with the January debit order being deducted by the 7th of January. Thereafter it will revert back to the 1st of the month.

Should any of your information have changed recently, please let us know.

We will be opening the easy payment option on MyClubAccount should you wish to utilise this platform. Further details will be released in due course. All current payment options remain in place.
Please do not hesitate to contact Ziska and Rentia with regards to any of your membership queries and more information.

Club Operations

It is with sadness that we will be saying goodbye to Marie Brummer, our Club Operations Manager, at the end of the month. A valued member of the team and a familiar face will be
sorely missed. We wish her every success as she embarks on a new adventure of her own.

Whilst we work towards a suitable replacement for the position, it will be all systems go and business as usual.

We hope that you are finding the pricing structure to be a positive change. Your prepaid account is available to be utilised for payments and loading those winning vouchers.

We are currently reviewing the Club menus, with a fresh look at healthier options, daily variety and competitive pricing. We recognise the request to have a sit-down meal in the halfway house and are working towards implementation by the end the month.

We welcome Calvin and The Vintage Cup, an independent barista, offering quality coffees and alternatives to the Ruimsig Country Club family. This is an exciting new initiative and hope you enjoy his offering as much as we do. A reminder that this is a separate pay point, accepting cash and credit card for your convenience.

As a reminder for your pre golf planning; for the upcoming festive period the club will open on Mondays from 13th December to 6 January 2022.

The club will close early on the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, with the Club closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Hollow tining is scheduled for early January 2022. Details will be communicated closer to the time.
As you all prepare for your holidays and time spent with families, please take care in your travels and stay safe!

Yours Sincerely
Megan
